Ohio Elections Commission:
Osborne vs. Magel (Case
No. 2002E-006)
The
Complaint
I filed this complaint against Kathy Magel due to this
statement on her campaign flyer:
“My committee work has consisted of extensive hours
authoring the new zoning code in conjunction with the City
Engineer and the City Zoning Inspector”.
I thought that the use of the words, “authoring the new
zoning code” was quite a stretch because the City of North
Canton had retained a planning and development consultant from
Cleveland (D.B. Hartt, Inc.) to rewrite the city’s new zoning
code at a cost of $50,000. A copy of my
complaint to the Ohio Elections Commission dated February
16, 2002, details my concerns with Kathy Magel’s campaign flyer
for the November 6, 2001 General Election.
The documents listed below link to public records available
at the Ohio Elections Commission. The documents are in
chronological order beginning with the original complaint filed
with the commission.
The issue can be understood quickly by reading the complaint,
the affidavit of the respondent, and then the transcript of the
Probable Cause Panel. The other documents are general
correspondence.
