• Presently, Councilman at-large, City of North Canton, Ohio.
  
  • Elected November, 2001.
  • Received the highest number of votes of five candidates running for Councilman at-large
    

• Born June 13,1949 in Louisville, Kentucky, the eldest of five children
   
• Graduated from St. John Vianney Parish Grade School in 1964 and St. Francis DeSales High School in 1968.
   
• Vietnam Era Veteran, serving four years (1968-1972) in U.S. Navy as a flight crewmember aboard Navy anti-submarine patrol aircraft. Deployed overseas twice to land-based Naval facilities in the Mediterranean. Attained enlisted rank of Second Class Petty Officer.
   
• Completed Officer Candidate School with the Maine Army National Guard and received a commission as a Second Lieutenant in June, 1978.
   
• Completed U.S. Army Rotary Wing Flight Training at Ft. Rucker, Alabama in March 9, 1979, and was awarded Army Aviator Wings.
   
• Served approximately eight years in the Army National Guard in three states (Maine, Kentucky and Ohio) and attained the rank of Captain.
   
• Flew 8,000+ hours as a military and civilian pilot. Airline Transported Pilot License, type-rated in a Bell JetRanger Helicopter, Dassault Falcon 20 Jet and Rockwell Sabreliner 40 Jet. FAA licensed Flight Instructor for both Airplanes and Helicopters.
   
• Corporate/Commercial/LifeFlight Pilot – flew jets and helicopters for corporations and scheduled airlines. Flew two years as a LifeFlight helicopter pilot and served nearly three years as a Chief Pilot for a corporate flight department.
   
• FAA Aviation Safety Technician
   
• BS/BA in Finance and MBA (Management) from the University of Akron
   
• Banking experience as a credit analyst with Bank One in Akron, Ohio
   
• Certificated in Ohio with both a School Treasurer’s certificate and a Business Manager’s certificate
   
• Finance experience as a credit manager with Green Tree Finance in St. Paul, Minnesota
   
• Earned multiple computer-related certificates:

  • Network+ certified
  • i-Net+ certified.
  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP).
  • University of Akron four-semester course for Cisco Routers
     
• Father of two grown sons
   
• Married fourteen years to Rita J. Palmer who has taught in the North Canton City Schools for thirty years
